Supazorb
A new generation environment friendly oil bioremediation product, which has been awarded the highest Environmental Technology award in the world.
Once used on a spill clean-up, Supazorb may be conventionally disposed of to landfill as Non Hazardous Material or, more interestingly, composted with oils / hydrocarbons which it has absorbed. This represents a potentially cheaper and greener means of pollution disposal.
The technology offers great promise because of its ability to convert toxic compounds into non-toxic ones without further disruption of the natural environment.
Many of the standard treatment processes used to decontaminate soil are limited in their application, prohibitively expensive and may be only partially effective.
Compared to other clean-up technologies such as incineration and burial of sludge in secure landfills; SupaZorb offers a much cheaper way of dealing with an oil spill. SupaZorb is also a very affordable technology, which means that it can be used for almost any kind of situation where an affordable and effective bioremediative solution is necessary. This will, in turn, lead to a much cleaner environment for us all.
Below are some of the many benefits of this natural oil sorbent:
- SupaZorb is a novel sorbent produced from a defined selection of plant waste in an environmentally friendly and renewable manner.
- Sorbent properties are comparable to those of peat, the current market leader, and it has been successfully employed to clean up a range of chemical spills.
- The high microbial content of the product makes it a versatile bioremediation tool.
- SupaZorb contains a range of bacteria and fungi which collectively mineralize a range of pollutants.
- The product is lightweight and easy to use as well as extremely cost effective.
- The product can be used to filter oleophilic contaminants from waste water streams as well as a water softener.
- The SupaZorb product can be used as a sorbent, a bioremediation tool or a combination of both making it unique in:
- Spill response and cleanup
- Subsequent mineralisation of sorbed pollutant
- Enhancement of insitu bioremediation
An independent laboratory (SGS South Africa) determined that SupaZorb was capable of absorbing 1.73X it's own volume without leaching.
A significant third party sorbent vendor in the UK found SupaZorb to have the best absorption capabilities in its class as per British Standard BS 7939-1:2000.
All components in Supazorb are entirely:
- Natural
- Chemical free
- Bio-degradable
